A rookie card is worth a lot of money because it’s rare. For example, the most valuable rookie card in the history of baseball is Babe Ruth’s 1914 Topps card. It sold for $4.8 million in 2015.

The bobby portis traded is a story that has become famous in the last few weeks. Bobby Portis was an NBA rookie who was traded for peanuts, but after the Bucks won the title, his rookie cards went from trash to treasure.

In virtually every NBA championship run, there is usually one player off the bench who manages to surprise everyone. This year, one player stood out from the crowd and captured the hearts of many: Milwaukee Bucks big man Bobby Portis.

We examine Portis’ NBA career, including how he won a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks and the present condition of his card stock.

Bobby Portis’ Rookie Cards Gained Notoriety During The Playoffs

Bobby Portis was a journeyman renowned for his aggressive appearance and clashes with opposing players before becoming an NBA champion and winning over the Milwaukee fans. The most famous altercation occurred in 2017, when he hospitalized Nikola Mirotic with a punch during a practice session with the Chicago Bulls. Since then, Portis has bounced about the league, playing for the Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks, among others.

Portis signed a two-year, $7.4 million deal with the Bucks as a backup power forward just before the season began. The seven-year veteran averaged 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in 66 games for Cream City, shooting 47.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Portis would go on to have a decent postseason performance against the Miami Heat, but he hardly played against the Brooklyn Nets. The Greek Freak, on the other hand, had the greatest break of his career when he hurt his knee in Game 4 against the Atlanta Hawks.

Portis stepped up in Game 5 of that series in Antetokounmpo’s absence, scoring 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. His outstanding effort was essential in Milwaukee’s clinching of a crucial win that paved the route to the NBA Finals.

Portis returned to the bench and played limited minutes in most games as Antetokounmpo healed just in time for the Finals. He didn’t score 16 points on 40 percent shooting from outside the arc until Game 6 to help the Bucks win their first championship in 50 years.

During the trophy presentation, the Milwaukee fans clapped and applauded Portis for his contributions to the Bucks’ victory. In principle, the same idea may be applied to his card stock after a significant career milestone.

Bobby Portis’ Rookie Cards: Where Are They Now?

Collectors would frequently overlook rookie cards with Bobby Portis on them while searching for them on the market. This wasn’t the case when the Bucks eventually made it to the NBA Finals earlier this month.

Portis’ PSA 10 2015 Prizm Silver rookie card was valued at $90 at the beginning of July. More than a week later, the price had fallen to $76 before rising to its current level of $160. That price increase reflects Portis’ growing popularity, not just among Bucks fans but also among card collectors.

Portis’ remarkable transformation from a fiery reserve in Chicago to a champion in Milwaukee is the stuff of legends. He’s also a great addition to any card collection right now. Getting those Bobby Portis rookie cards will undoubtedly be worthwhile after the hoopla has died down.

The bobby portis car was a limited edition card that came out after the Bucks won the NBA title. It is now worth more than $10,000.
